We came across Brass castle country hotel purely by chance searching for a pleasant resting place. The hotel is run by Andrew Holmes, his wife and lovely daughters. The welcome is second to none, the scenery is beautiful as too are the walks.
Andrew and the girls make you feel part of the family and very relaxed. I planned to stay there one night but that quickly stretched to 2 nights. The rooms are beautiful, and the girls bend over backwards to help you.
I REALLY wanted to stay there forever, sleep on the snooker room settee and work for free for them all.
The food is gorgeous, especially the cream teas and the breakfasts. I love this place and the beautiful family there, and I have booked another two nights there for my partner and myself for a birthday in October, and I cant wait to get back there to see them all again, plus the rabbits, the cat and the resident peahen. One beautiful stay, I love it.
Gem in the heart of Middlesbrough.
We stayed here for 3 nights in Oct, the Holmes family were really welcoming, they really looked after myself, my husband and my 7 month old baby. They supplied high chairs, travel cot and even a little chair what they left in our room, which came in really handy. The breakfast was the best I've had in any hotel, my husband got a vegetarian breakfast offered to him, which was a first, so he was delighted. The house is charming, it's absolutely spotless. Our room was called Beech, c o ulsnt fault it in any way, beds were so comfy too. You get to know the family on a personal level too, they are really easy going people, but work very hard at keeping good the place like it is. I'd definately reccommend a stay here..Il be staying here for sure on my next visit.
A WONDERFUL RELAXING EXPERIENCE
My husband and I returned today after spending three days with Andrew and his lovely family. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life this is the place to come. This is an amazing house that is being refurbished to a very high standard, but it is an ongoing project which we found most exciting. Our room “The Beech” was decorated to perfection, and the selection of tea, coffee and biscuits we have never seen in any 4 and 5* hotels. Our room looked out over the lawns and it was a joy to watch five little rabbits having their breakfast. The icing on the cake for me was the tremendous jacuzzi bath with a beautiful TV on the wall at the bottom of the bath (I actually thought it was just a large mirror 🤗) I asked for a rubber mat for the bath as I am unsteady and it was no problem, I don’t think anything would be a problem to the girls.
The breakfast was a delight, I am a very fussy eater and explained in detail how I wanted everything cooked and again all was freshly cooked to perfection and so quickly. Of course we couldn’t leave without using the fabulous hot tub, and to top off the experience the sun was shining.
It was a privilege for us to spend our three days in the home of Andrew and his beautiful family and we look forward to seeing the new developments on our next visit.
A lovely find in the country....but don't miss the drive!
What a lovely drive up to the house....after we found it on our second pass! Being nature lovers and bird watchers, we immediately knew we would like this place. Shame it was only for one night. Our welcome was great, easy parking, and the room was more than adequate. A very spacious and well equipped place to relax, with a jacuzzi bath, although make sure you cover the " bubble" holes completely before turning on. There were some lovely extra touches, bottled water, fruit, a variety of beverages, comfy chairs, dressing gowns etc. It is family run and very homely, whilst also being special. We appreciated the light meal menu in the evening, it was more than adequate, and they made me sandwiches which weren't on the menu. My partner loved his brie and cranberry panini. It is one of his favourite choices, and this one was one of the best! Breakfast was served in the dining room, this time in sunshine, and there was plenty of choice. It was lovely to see the grounds and the terrace in nice weather before we left. A lovely touch, fill in a review form and you get a very nice bottle of wine as a thank you. If in the area again, we would definitely stay here.
